Harness racing Hall of Fame driver Yannick Gingras got an extra slice of the pie after winning the $39,000 Invitational Trot at Yonkers Raceway Thursday evening (Aug. 1) as he also owns a part of the winner, Tipsy Moni (International Moni).
The 4th race feature saw Stormy Kromer (Daniel Dube) leave from the rail and hold the early lead as race favorite Tipsy Moni and Gingras came on the outside to take the lead at the opening quarter mile in :28.1.
Once settled on the lead, Tipsy Moni led the field to the half mile in :57.1. Then in the backstretch, Mississippi Storm (Brent Holland) started up first-over from third place, giving cover to Take All Comers (Jason Bartlett) as Tipsy Moni continued to lead at the three quarters in 1:25.3.
Around the final turn, Tipsy Moni maintained a two length lead to the top of the stretch, then held off Mississippi Storm at the wire to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:54.1. Take All Comers was third.
