Columbus, MN – Harness racing driver Anthony Kerwood registered his 5,000th career driving win at Running Aces tonight (Tuesday, July 6) in race #10 on the program, piloting his own horse, Intrigued Again ($11.80) to his second local win with a 1:56.1 mile.

Kerwood is a native of Toronto, Canada and has been a top driver in Harness Racing for more than 3 decades. He has piloted the winners of more than $54.3 million during that time. This is the first season at Running Aces for Tony, who also recently completed a successful meet at Cal-Expo before coming out to Minnesota for the summer racing season.

INTRIGUED AGAIN REPLAY

Tony had his highest seasonal win total in 1988 when he won 241 races, and his highest seasonal purse total in 1996 when he drove the winners of $$3,717,470 (US).

/4 length romp in 1:52.4 for his second win of the season and 13th career tally. The 5 year old gelding by Jereme’s Jet

is closing in on $100,000 in career earnings ($97,503). Hoo Nien A (Gerald Longo) was home in second and Elusive Image (Jacob Cutting) picked up third in the featured event. The winner is owned by Terrence Smith and trained by Edward Hernandez.

Vickie’s Vacation (Nick Roland, $3.40) posted her first career pari-mutuel win in the $7,100 two-year-old open trot in 2:03, with a solid final panel in :29.3. The Banker Volo filly got away in the pocket and then was relegated to third throughout most of the mile before Roland angled her into the passing lane in the stretch and they were able to pass the front runners and draw clear by one length. The winning owners are Jeralene Roland and Vickie Rush, and the winning trainer is Dan Roland.

Drivers Rick Magee, Brian Detgen and Brady Jenson all completed doubles on the card, while trainers Dan Roland and Edward Hernandez also registered doubles on Tuesday night.

The 20 cent Pick-5 wager had a mandatory payout on Tuesday, with $70,132 in new money wagered and $30,113.73 in carryover money for a total pool of $100,245. The pick-5 sequence yielded no winning favorites and there were 7 winning combinations with each ticket paying a healthy $12,016.58 for 20 cents.

Nobody was able to solve the Late Pick-4 which has sparked a carryover for Thursday night’s (July 8) Early Pick-4 of $1,943.62. The 50-cent Hi-5 also went unsolved on Tuesday, and there is a carryover of $3,366.34 for the Race 7 Hi-5 on Thursday as well, with first post at 6:05 pm (CDT) for the 8 race card.
