The 1-2 favorite Tony’s Mom (Heston Blue Chip, Jason Bartlett) won the $27,000 harness racing feature pace at Yonkers Raceway on Friday evening (Dec. 8).
Tony’s Mom took the early lead, followed by Silk Cloud A (Jim Pantaleano). Coachellabound N (Brent Holland) was battling Silk Cloud A for second as they reached the first quarter mile in :27.1.
From the outside, Coachellabound N passed Silk Cloud A to challenge Tony’s Mom for the lead. Coachellabound N led the way, with Tony’s Mom in the pocket spot in second as they passed the half mile in :56.2.
As they approached the three-quarter mile mark in 1:25.3, Coachellabound N was holding on to the lead, with Tony’s Mom racing in second and Twin Delight (Austin Siegelman) following in third.
At the top of the stretch, Tony’s Mom looked to challenge the leader from the outside. In a photo finish, Tony’s Mom crossed the wire first in 1:54.2, a nose in front of Coachellabound N. Uptown Hanover (Matt Kakaley) finished in third.

Tony’s Mom is a 4-year-old mare trained by Per Engblom for owners Morrison Racing Stables and Brian Gordon. She paid $3.10 to win.
Jim Pantaleano, Jordan Stratton, Matt Kakaley, and Jason Bartlett had driving doubles. Ron Burke and Per Engblom had training doubles.
