Harrah’s Hoosier Park was the host of two $22,000 Open events Saturday (April 15) with both the trotters and pacers in harness racing action.
The trotters were first on display in the 7th race Open where Famous Father (Father Patrick) and driver Rick Plano were able to lead from start to finish, winning by just a half a length in 1:52.2 after leading by five lengths at the top of the stretch.
FAMOUS FATHER REPLAY
It was a lifetime mark and the third win this year for Famous Father. The four-year-old gelding is trained and owned by Plano and paid $6.40 to win.
The 8th race Open Pace for Fillies and Mares saw race favorite Rockin Nola (Rockin Image) and driver Joey Putnam take the lead away from Rose Run Vision (Don Eash) after the opening quarter mile in :27.1 and then scoot away from the field to win in a romp by five and one-quarter lengths in 1:50.1.
Rose Run Vantage (Trace Tetrick) was second with Western Sierra (Jordan Ross) third.
ROCKIN NOLA REPLAY
It was the second straight win and second win in three starts this year for Rockin Nola. The seven-year-old mare is trained by Joey Putnam for J P Racing LLC and Suttons Bay Racing. She paid $2.60 to win.
