Top Of Mind comes out on top in Tioga feature

Top Of Mind (Stay Hungry, Marcus Miller) takes the $10,000 featured fillies and mares’ harness racing pace on Friday (July 12) at Tioga Downs.

Madam X (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) was first to the quarter in :27.1. She eased things down with a :30.0 second quarter and led to the half in :57.1. Top Of Mind ($4.70) made her move first-up from third going down the backstretch. She blew right on by and led to three-quarters in 1:24.3.

As they made the turn for home Top Of Mind was all alone. Second place finisher Madam X came flying late but it was too late as Top Of Mind won in a lifetime best of 1:53.1. Beantown Babe (Aaron Byron) finished third.

Top Of Mind is a 3-year-old filly. She is owned by Glenn Bechtel and trainer Erv Miller. It was her second win of the season and second of her career.

Mike Merton drove three winners on the card. Aaron Byron, Marcus Miller, and Tyler Miller had driving doubles. Erv Miller had a training double.

Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (July 12) with a 12-race card starting at 6:15 p.m.
