WASHINGTON, PA, Nov. 30, 2023  — Alexa Skye (Somebeachsomewhere-Pirouette Hanover) quarter-poled to the top and kept right on rolling to score in 1:49.4 — matching the track record for older harness racing mares — in Thursday’s $21,200 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Alexa Skye and driver Dave Palone tying track record at The Meadows

Once she reached the point, the 6-year-old mare turned back the first-over challenge of Southwind Bella and opened up, prevailing for Dave Palone by 3 lengths. Her time equals the record established by Medusa in 2017, and it matches Alexa Skye’s previous lifetime mark. Blue Ivy closed nicely for second while Southwind Bella saved show.

ALEXA SKYE REPLAY

Virgil Morgan, Jr. trains Alexa Skye, who now boasts a career bankroll of $461,579, for Let It Ride Stables Inc. and Bottom Line Racing LLC. It was one of three wins for Palone on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday when the 13-race program features a $7,500 guarantee in the Early Pick 4 (race 1) offered by The Meadows, the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association (MSOA) and the United States Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Initiative. The card also features a pair of carryovers: $1,458.70 in the Early Pentafecta (race 4), $1,350.43 in the Pick 5 (race 9). First post is 12:45 PM.
