Monticello, NY— Three-year-old trotting colts battled it out in the New York Sire Stakes for $114,000 in harness racing purses Monday (July 31) afternoon at Monticello Raceway. There were two $57,000 divisions.
The very first race of the day was the first division that saw Chapercraz (Crazy Wow) leave from post one and never had to look back. Cutting fractions of :29.2, :59.2 and 1:27.2, Chapercraz started to pull away by the top of the stretch. In a late valiant effort, the pocket-sitting Cecil Hanover (Mark McDonald) tried to make a race of it, finishing second to Chapercraz by a half a length in 1:56.1. Wild Bill Kelso (Jordan Stratton) was third.
