MGM Yonkers Raceway held twin $39,000 Open-Handicap harness racing features over a sloppy, rain-soaked track for the fillies and mares Thursday (Oct. 13) and both events were won by the betting favorite. There was a two-second allowance due to the inclement weather.
The trotting mares were first on display in the 2nd race where Ghostintheshell S (From Above) and driver Daniel Dube went wire-to-wire from post three. She cut fractions of :28.3, :58.2 and 1:26.2.
Hey Livvy (Jordan Stratton) tried a first-over move at the half but broke stride.
Ghostintheshell S held the field at bay by two lengths and opened up in the stretch to win going away by three and one-quarter lengths in 1:55. The pocket-sitting Queen Of All (Austin Siegelman) was second with What Should I Do (Joe Bongiorno) third.
GHOSTINTHESHELL S REPLAY
It was the fifth win this season for Ghostintheshell S, who is trained by Ake Svanstedt for Knutsson Trotting, Inc. The six-year-old mare paid $4.00 to win.
The 8th race Mares Open-Handicap Pace saw a little more movement than the earlier co-feature as Man Dontforget Me (Tyler Buter) was first on the lead and then gave way at the opening quarter mile to Delifulcatherin N (Bettorās Delight) and driver Jordan Stratton in :27.2.
They went by the half mile in :57.2 before the action started to heat up with Siesta Beach (Austin Siegelman) coming first-over and giving live cover to Dragon Roll (Braxten Boyd) as they nearly caught up to Delitfulcatherin N at the three-quarters in 1:25.4.
Switching to another gear on the final turn, Delitfulcatherin N and Stratton were up by three lengths at the top of the stretch and maintained that margin to the wire in 1:53.2. Man Dontforget Me was second with First Start Hanover (Jason Bartlett) third.
DELITFULCATHERIN N REPLAY
Trained by Jeffery Gillis, it was the eighth win of the year for Delitfulcatherin N, who is owned by Mark Ford and paid $4.80 to win.
