In race 10 on the afternoon, the co-featured $13,200 Open Pace for male pacers, second favorite Two Birds Onestone left alertly from post 8, as did post time favorite Red Righthand Man N and Kody Massey from post five. The duo battled hard through the first quarter-mile in 28.1. Red Righthand Man N finally yielded the lead to the outside speedster as the pair opened up on the other six competitors in the race by 9 lengths by the half which was clocked in 56.1.

As the field went to three-quarters in 1:26.1, Red Righthand Man N looked to peak to the outside of the leader, but as they turned for home, Two Birds Onestone was too strong and maintained his lead through the stretch and to the finish line and they finished 1-2 in a final clocking of 1:55.2 over a track listed as good and with a much cooler air temperature than the two prior weeks.

The win marked the second Open win in a row for Two Birds Onestone and his fourth win in a row at the Michigan oval.

Two Birds Onestone is owned by Carl Putnam, Jr. and is trained by Steve Main. The five-year-old gelding has now earned $ 348,888 and secured a record of 81 starts 34 wins 12 seconds and 5 thirds.

Earlier on the program, Kings Sweetheart (Big Chocolate – Red Queen`s Image) who is owned, trained and driven by David Lake, lowered her own previous track record for an aged trotting mare from 2:02.3 to 2:00.4 in race one, winning by three lengths.

In the $13,200 Open Mares Pace, Mother Mary (Rockin Image – Pv Miracle Mary) won on the front end by two and a half lengths in 1:56.3 for owner, trainer, driver and breeder Joe Casagranda.  She just missed the track record for a four-year-old pacing mare by one-fifth of a second.

And in the $13,200 Open Trot, Bo Nanza Chip (Band`s Gold Chip – Betteka) closed from mid-pack to win at the wire as a 9/2 upsetter by a half-length over Travlin Swan (Art McIlmurray) in 2:00.3. Bo Nanza Chip is owned by Jd Yoder and trained and driven by Lavern Miller.

Drivers Jennifer Main and Kody Massey each had driving doubles on the program. Trainer Steve Main had a training double on the day as well.

Racing resumes Wednesday (Oct 8) in Hastings. MI at Northville Downs with a first race post time of 1pm ET.
