It has been confirmed that Brandon Campbell, who is western Canada’s first and only harness racing driver to earn $2 million earnings in a year, will be heading down south to Cal Expo Harness in the USA for this upcoming Sunday’s (Jan. 22) stake races.
Although entries for the upcoming weekend of racing have not yet been released, however, it has been revealed by a close source that the ownership group of Trevor Williams and Tim Gordon have secured Campbell’s services.
Campbell’s driving performance in 2022 will be something that is talked about for some time to come. He finished the year with 266 wins and $2,056,905 in earnings. Campbell’s UDRS at the end of the year was .404 and he had finished in the top three in 60% of his starts. He already has 6 wins in the first 24 starts of 2023. Campbell will be looking to improve upon that when his plane lands in California.
While weather conditions still have been making it difficult on the track maintenance crew at Cal Expo, the hope and the plan is to have racing resume on Sunday. The running of this year’s Jack Williams Final and Horowitz Final is slated to go if the weather allows. Post time is set for 5:00 p.m. local Pacific time.
