Despite have a strong lead coming down the stretch, race favorite Empressive Hill was unable to maintain her advantage and Pub Crawl was able to come up along the rail to capture the $105,000 Crossroads Of America Trot for three-year-old harness racing fillies at Harrahās Hoosier Park Friday.
With four lead changes by the half mile marker, the action was fast and furious from the start of the ninth race. Queen Of All (Yannick Gingras) was early to the lead, then gave way to the 6-1 Pub Crawl (Peter Wrenn), who gave way to Katieās Lucky Day by the first quarter in :27.1.
Then by the half mile in :55.4, Empressive Hill and driver Tim Tetrick marched first-over and took command. The action continued as Awesome Trix (Ricky Macomber, Jr.) started up first-over before the three-quarters in 1:25.
Empressive Hill started to open up daylight on the lead coming down the long stretch and then Wrenn weaved around horses with Pub Crawl, collared Empressive Hill and went on to win by two lengths in 1:54. Material Girl (Trace Tetrick) closed for second place with Queen Of All third.
PUB CRAWL REPLAY
For Pub Crawl, a Bar Hopping daughter, it was her sixth win this year for trainer Julie Miller. She is owned by Marvin & Lynn Katz, Al Libfeld and Sam Goldband, all of Ontarion. Pub Crawl paid $15.00 to win.
āSheās a nice filly,ā said Peter Wrenn. āI drove her last week and she was trotting strong at the end. She felt good all week and she went a great race.ā
It was the second Grand Circuit Stake victory on the night for driver Peter Wrenn who also won the $165,000 Carl Erskine Trot with Swingforthefences.
