ORSC, USTA lower the boom on Brevin Lupton

Columbus, OH — The U.S. Trotting Association recently became aware of the Brevin Lupton video posted on several social media platforms. Mr. Lupton has never been licensed by the USTA, nor has he ever been a member of the harness racing organization.

The Ohio State Racing Commission has informed the USTA that it has issued a one-year suspension of Lupton’s Ohio racing license and fined him $1,000. To read the OSRC ruling, click here.

The Association condemns the cruel or inhumane treatment of any horse and will not tolerate such actions.

Accordingly, the USTA finds that Mr. Lupton’s conduct is detrimental to and reflects adversely on harness racing and the Association, and has declared Lupton ineligible for licensing or membership, as per Association bylaw §1.04(a)(1) and (2). Furthermore, the behavior is evidence of a lack of general fitness. Mr. Lupton’s continued participation in harness racing is not consistent with the best interest of the sport.

Under Article VIII of the USTA bylaws, Mr. Lupton has the right to appeal this ruling.
