Columbus, OH — On Tuesday (Aug. 24), United States Trotting Association (USTA) president Russell Williams and Mike Tanner, the Association’s chief executive officer, met in Baltimore with Charles Scheeler, Chairman of the Board of the Horseracing Integrity & Safety Authority (HISA), and Hank Zeitlin, HISA’s interim executive director.
The mutually arranged session lasted 75 minutes and covered a range of topics related to the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act, which was signed into law in December 2020. The USTA is among those parties challenging the Act’s constitutionality.
“We all saw this as a means to establish a foundation of communication,” explained Williams. “The conversation was open and cordial.”
