LEBANON, OH – Velocity Lady (Bettor’s Delight), in just her third seasonal harness racing start, captured the $27,000 Mares Open at Miami Valley on Thursday (April 6). An eight-time winner in 2022, the six-year-old mare seems sharp as ever missing her career best win by just two-fifths of a second in 1:50.1.
Trainer-driver Brady Galliers got away sixth in the compact field of seven during the initial panel timed in :26.2. Mounting a first-up attack early Velocity Lady moved up to fourth on the rim as the half was passed in :54.3.
Galliers had his charge in a threatening second by the 1:22.1 three quarters station, then battled gamely through the stretch against the pacesetter Marloe Hanover (Trace Tetrick) and Single Girl (Tyler Smith).
Velocity Lady ultimately prevailed in the final hundred yards with Single Girl second and Marloe Hanover third.
VELOCITY LADY REPLAY
The Look Ahead Racing Stable partners with Galliers and his parents on Velocity Lady, who earned $133,265 of her $198,806 bankroll in her 5-year-old season. Her victory was the 15th of her career in just 50 starts. She paid $7.20 to win.
Miami Valley departs from its normal Sunday through Thursday schedule by staying dark on Easter Sunday. The next live program will be presented on Monday (April 10) at the normal 4 p.m. post time.
