The Moma Dance (Ponder) and harness racing driver Chris Long captured the $7,500 featured fillies and mares’ pace over a sloppy, rain-soaked track at Vernon Downs on Friday (November 17).
The Hunt Is On (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) led to the quarter in :27.2. So Amazing (Steeven Genois) came first-up heading to the backstretch and battled for the lead. The Hunt Is On was first to the half in :57.3. Milliniums Girl (Barton Dalious) came flying first-up and took over the lead heading around the final turn and led to three-quarters in 1:26.2.
The Moma Dance ($17.20) made her move as they made the turn for home. She came flying down the stretch and won easily in 1:55.3. Milliniums Girl had to settle for second. Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) finished third.
The Moma Dance is a 4-year-old mare trained by Paul Minckler for owners Edmund Namiotka Jr., and Carol Namiotka. It was her fourth win this season. She now has six career victories.
