Golden Kronos (Chapter Seven) with harness racing driver Jimmy Whittemore captured the $7,500 featured trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (July 19).
Bourbon Express (John MacDonald) flew to the lead and led to the quarter in :28.2 as Golden Kronos ($13.20) tucked in the pocket.Ā Bourbon Express slowed things way down with a :31.2 second quarter and was first to the half in :59.3.Ā He still controlled things leading to three-quarters in 1:28.2.
As they reached the stretch Golden Kronos climbed out of the pocket and took over the lead.Ā Second place finisher Lepanto (Leon Bailey) gave it a late try but it was too late as Golden Kronos won in 1:57.4.Ā Bourbon Express had to settle for third.
Golden Kronos is a 10-year-old gelding. He is trained by Chip Zombick for owners William and Michael Pozefsky.Ā It was his first win in 2024.Ā He now has 40 career victories.

Leading driver Leon Bailey had a driving grand slam.Ā He got his wins with Lady To Watch, Cash N Chrome, On The Take, and Courtly Prince.Ā Ivan Davies had a training-driving double.
