34-1 shocker in Vernon feature

Marauder Seelster (Muscle Mass, Ivan Davies) shocks the field at odds of 34-1 in the $5,500 featured harness racing trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (Aug. 2).

Only Passing Thru (Jimmy Whittemore) had the early lead but Marauder Seelster ($70.00) took the lead just before hitting the quarter first in :28.4.  He slowed things down with a :30.0 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.4.  Keeper Of Secrets (Leon Bailey) made a move first-over going around the final turn.  Marauder Seelster   was first to three-quarters in 1:28.1.

As they reached the stretch Keeper Of Secrets kept coming on the outside as Only Passing Thru tried to slip through on the inside.  Marauder Seelster dug down deep and won in 1:57.0.  Keeper Of Secrets had to settle for second.  Yankees Beast (Steeven Genois) finished third.

Marauder Seelster is a 5-year-old gelding owned by Shirley Michaud and trained by Ivan Davies.  It was his second win this season.  He now has five career victories.

MARAUDER SEELSTER REPLAY

Leading driver Leon on Bailey had a grand slam on the card.  He got his wins with On The Take (Mach Three), Ladyyouaregorgeous (Muscle Mass), Lady To Watch (He`s Watching), and River Belle (Heston Blue Chip).

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (August 3) with an 11-race card starting at 6:05 p.m.
