Vernon Downs plays host to a $108,200 leg of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 2-year-old harness racing pacing fillies on Friday (August 23).
The top two contenders come out of the Jared Bako barn.Ā The 8-5 morning line favorite Cowgirl Hanover (Huntsville-Code One Hanover) with driver Doug McNair who has five wins in six lifetime starts.Ā The filly has NYSS wins at Buffalo, Tioga, Monticello, Yonkers, and Saratoga.Ā She has banked over $230,000 already in her young career.
Bako’s other filly The Last Martini (Huntsville-Martinique) with driver Jason Bartlett. She is a two-time winner so far this season and handed Cowgirl Hanover her only loss last time out in a NYSS race at Batavia.Ā The filly’s other NYSS win came at Saratoga.
