Harness racing driver Justin Huckabone, coming off back-to-back grand slams last weekend at Vernon Downs, did one better with five wins on Friday (October 15).
Huckabone got his wins with Eataams Trauma (($5.30), Chicwinner ($2.70), Fancy Knows ($8.20), Tempster Hanover ($7.90), and Battenberg ($16.20).
The Irishman (Jimmy Whittemore) cruised to an easy win in the featured $5,000 trot.
Havana Ooh Nana (Leon Bailey) went straight to the front. The Irishman ($10.00) came flying first-over and grabbed the lead just before hitting the first quarter in :27.3. He used a :29.1 second quarter to hit the half in :56.4.
He breezed to three-quarters in 1:25.4. As they made the turn for home Havana Ooh Nana and Amazing Sevens went all out after The Irishman. The Irishman had plenty in the tank and won easily in 1:55. Havana Ooh Nana held on for second as Amazing Sevens finished third.
The Irishman is a 3-year-old gelding by Cantab Hall. He is trained by George Ducharme for owners WJ Donovan, Tom Dillon, Joe Sbrocco, Purnel&Libby. It was his third win of the season and he now has five career victories

Leon Bailey leads all drivers with 112 wins. Justin Huckabone is second on the list with 82 victories this season. Jimmy Whittemore is third with 48 trips to the winnerās circle. Chris Long is fourth with 39 tallies. Truman Gale and Frank Affrunti are tied for fifth with 22 wins.
Jeff Sorenson leads all trainers with 31 wins. Justin Huckabone has 28 victories for second best. Jessica Okusko is third with 25 wins. Kerin Warner (24) and George Ducharme (21) round out the top five. Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (October 16) with a 10-race card starting at 6:10 p.m.
