Longshot Amazing Sevens (Chapter Seven) with driver Frank Affrunti captured the featured $5,500 harness racing trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (June 9), paying a generous 11-1 odds.
Zapaca (John MacDonald) went straight to the front and was first to the quarter in :27.4.Ā Ā He used a :29.0 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.4.Ā Ā Amazing Sevens ($25.00) made his move first-up from fifth going around the final turn.Ā Ā Zapaca led to three-quarters in 1:26.2.
As they made the turn for home Amazing Sevens went all out and took over the lead.Ā Ā Poker Play (Steeven Genois) came flying late but had to settle for second as Amazing Sevens won in 1:56.4.Ā Ā Zapaca was third.
Amazing Sevens is a 9-year-old gelding owned and trained by Margaret Spagnola.Ā Ā It was his first win this season and his 15thĀ career victory.
