Lepanto cruises to victory in Vernon feature

Lepanto (Bar Hopping, Barton Dalious) captured the $7,500 featured harness racing Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (Jul. 21).

Lepanto ($4.00) And Discus Hanover (Roman Lopez) battled right out of the gate.  Discus Hanover led to the quarter in :27.4.  Lepanto took over control heading down the backstretch and led to the half in :57.3.  He cruised to three-quarters in 1:26.1.

As they reached the stretch Lepanto took off like a rocket and won easily in 1:56.3.  Poker Play (Steeven Genois) came late to finish second.  Telenovela (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) was third.

Lepanto is a 5-year-old gelding owned by Betcha Win Stable and trained by Jeff Sorenson.  It was his fourth win this season.  He now has 15 career victories.

Barton Dalious swept the late double getting his other win with SVF Cash Deposit.  John MacDonald had a driving double as well.
