Keep Asking (Chapter Seven, Scott Zeron) charged late to win the $108,200 leg of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 2-year-old harness racing trotting colts & geldings at Vernon Downs on Friday (Aug. 18).
Wild Ticket (Brian Sears) and Situationship (Jason Bartlett) battled their way to the first quarter as Wild Ticket reached there first in :26.2.Ā Ā Situationship took the lead as they headed down the backstretch and was first to the half in :55.2.Ā Ā He glided to three-quarters in 1:25.0.
As they reached the stretch Situationship seemed well in control but started to tire in mid-stretch.Ā Ā It Wasnāt Me (Tyler Buter) popped the pockets as Keep Asking ($48.40) came flying three-wide like his tail was on fire.Ā Ā Keep Asking then blew right on by and equaled the track record for 2-year-old trotting colts with a win in 1:54.0.Ā Ā It Wasnāt Me finished second as Situationsgip held on for third.
Keep Asking is a colt.Ā Ā He is owned by WJ Donovan, Joe Sbrocco, Jim Winske, and trainer George Ducharme.Ā Ā It was his first career victory.
