Dewey Arnold (Deweycheatemnhowe) and driver Ron Harp breezed their way to an easy win in the $7,500 featured harness racing trot on Friday (May 3) at Vernon Downs.
Dewey Arnold ($4.60) went to the lead and was first to the quarter in :27.1.Ā He used a :29.2 second quarter and led to the half in :56.3.Ā Joxter (Dan Daley) came first-up from last heading to the far turn.Ā He would get within half a length as Dewey Arnold led to three-quarters in 1:26.0.
As they reached the stretch Dewey Arnold had plenty in the tank and cruised to the win in 1:54.3.Ā Joxter had to settle for second.Ā Match My Miracle (Frank Affrunti) finished third.
Dewey Arnold is a 6-year-old gelding owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst.Ā It was his first win this season.Ā He now has 33 career victories.
