Both co-features won gate-to-wire at Vernon

Rock Solid Express (Huntsville) and harness racing driver Frank Affrunti and Crazy Fool (Crazy Wow) and driver Claude Huckabone Jr. each captured the co-features at Vernon Downs on Saturday (May 25).

Rock Solid Express ($4.50) goes gate-to-wire in the $7,500 featured pace.

Rock Solid Express went straight to the front and was first to the quarter in :27.4.  He used a :29 second quarter to lead to the half in :56.4.  As they raced around the final turn the lead got bigger as Rock Solid Express was first to three-quarters in 1:24.3.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher Heisonthehunt (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) came charging late but was too late as Rock Solid Express won in 1:52.3.  Takeittotheface (John MacDonald) finished third.

Rock Solid Express is a 4-year-old horse by Huntsville.  He is owned by James DeArmond and David Towne while trained by Jessica Okusko.  It was his third win this season.  He now has 10 career victories.

ROCK SOLID EXPRESS REPLAY

Crazy Fool ($13.80) wins the $7,500 featured trot.

Crazy Fool pushed the gate open and led to the quarter in :27.3.  He really slowed things down using a :30.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :58.1.  He cruised to three-quarters in 1:26.3.

As they made the turn for home Crazy Fool found another gear and won easily in 1:55.4.  Golden Kronos (Steeven Genois) finished second.  Valotta Love (John MacDonald) was third.

Crazy Fool is a 4-year-old gelding owned by trainer Huckabone Jr., Anne Morgan, and Richard Dieck.  It was his third win this season.  He now has 15 career victories.

CRAZY FOOL REPLAY

Claude Huckabone III had a driving double and a training triple.

Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Monday (May 27) with a special an 11-race matinee starting at 12:15 p.m. featuring New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) sophomore trotters.
