After grinding it out first-over to take command, Jurassic Hattie (Volstead – High Gear Sabra – Striking Sabra) trotted away from the harness racing field to become the fastest three-year-old trotter in North America this year with her 1:54.1 victory in an $20,000 elimination for the James K. Hackett Memorial Monday (April 15) at Miami Valley Raceway.
Competing over a fast track and a temperature of 81 in the 1st race division of the Hackett for three-year-old trotting fillies, Jurassic Hattie and driver Brett Miller got away in second place following early pacesetter Maxine’s Hill (Trevor Smith). They went by the first quarter in :28.
With no challenges, Maxine’s Hill led the field to the half mile marker in :56.3. Then in the backstretch, Brett Miller took Jurassic Hattie out of the two-hole hole and blew by Maxine’s Hill to take the lead by the three-quarters in 1:26.
Comfortably on the lead at the top of the stretch, Jurassic Hattie pulled away towards the finish to win with ease by three and one-half lengths. Legacy Affair (Trace Tetrick) was second with Iam Independent (Chris Page) third.
JURASSIC HATTIE REPLAY
