DAYTON, OH – Whata Swan, a 27 time winner who has now banked $421,793, shipped into Hollywood Dayton Raceway for the first time this Fall on Thursday (Nov. 4) to face some of the Midwest’s best squaregaiters in the $30,000 Open.

The 5-year-old son of Swan For All and driver Trace Tetrick promptly equaled the track’s record for older male trotters with a convincing 1:52.3 tally over closers Shake It Mary (Tonly Hall) and Winning Shadow (Brett Miller). The standard was originally set by Penn and later matched by Mission Accepted.

Tetrick pressed forward when the starting car’s gate swung open, tucked briefly in the first turn, then rushed to the top as the field sped past the opening quarter timer in :27.3.

With I Know My Chip (Tyler Smith) getting the pocket ride and Mission Accepted (Chris Page) applying mild pressure at the :55 midway juncture, the winner proceeded to the third station in 1:23.4 before closing in :28.4 for the open lengths record tying victory.

John Barnard owns Whata Swan, and he is contemplating a future stallion career in Ohio for the impressive looking horse. Luis Quevedo trains Whata Swan, who took a lifetime mark of 1:51.2 earlier this year at Harrah’s Hoosier Park.

WHATA SWAN REPLAY

Kayne Kauffman stole the driving show on Thursday scoring a Grand Slam on the program. The red and white clad reinsman started off by capturing both halves of the early daily double. Trumpeter Swan pulled Kauffman to a 1:58.3 tally in a N/W 1 PM trot, followed by Winna Winna scoring in 1:55.4 in a bottom claiming price pace.

The Kauffman double returned $10.60. Kayne returned to the winner’s circle with Workinitonbroadway (1:54.3, $7.80) capturing the track’s highest condition trot; before capping off his four-bagger with Illini Duke (1:54, $9.40) in a NW4 PM condition-claimer.

Hollywood Dayton resumes racing on Friday and Saturday night with a 4 p.m. post time on each day.
