Big Boys Edge (Sharp Edge) enjoyed comfortable fractions and a tactical drive by Sam Widger to take the $18,000 Conditioned Trot featured harness racing event in Tuesday (Oct. 21) evening action at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.

Big Boys Edge

When the bulky field of 10 were sent on their way by starter Mike Woebkenberg, Big Boys Edge was sent out of post #6, received the first call and easily cleared to the top as the rest of the field quickly went into a single file formation.

Big Boys Edge went through the opening panel in :28.3 and thanks to no early challenges was able to get a :30.2 second quarter breather.

Rock Climber (Luke Hanners) came first up and sprinted down the backstretch, but his challenge faded before the three-quarters in 1:27.1.

Lous Private Eye (Cameron McCown) went three-wide around the fading Rock Climber but couldn’t close much ground.

Big Boys Edge drew away from a pocket-sitting and betting favorite Beaueastel (Chris Page) by 3 ¾ lengths in 1:56.4. Lous Private Eye claimed third.

BIG BOYS EDGE REPLAY

Hartley Farms owns the five-year-old gelded son of Sharp Edge.

Carl Newland trains the winner, who scored for the fifth time in 2025.

In a $15,000 Conditioned Pace, Dapper Design used a off-the-pace effort to score his third straight win and fifth of his career.

There was a four-way rush for the early lead with Southern Rockfest crossing over to the lead past the opening quarters of :26.4; 56.1 and 1:23.4.

Driver Jeremy Smith sent Dapper Design went three-wide past a challenging Woodrow Blue Chip (Kayne Kauffman) down the Dayton Raceway backstretch.

Dapper Design cleared before the top of the stretch and drew 1 ¼ lengths ahead of another closer, Believe In Tom (Marc St. Louis, Jr.) in 1:53.2.

Woodrow Blue Chip took third over Threemargaritashot (Chris Page).

Chris McGuire conditions the sophomore Heston Blue Chip colt, who is co-owned by Mike Brink and Jeffrey Clauson.

Driver Tyler Smith recorded four wins on the card. Jeremy Smith had a driving triple.

Dayton Raceway returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 22) with a 14-race card starting at 4:00 PM.
