Wirelesscaller (Jeremy Smith) took advantage of comfortable fractions and a perfect harness racing pocket trip to win the featured $18,000 conditioned claiming pace Thursday (Sept. 25) at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.

When the field of 10 was sent on their way by starter Mike Woebkenberg, the 3/5 bettors’ choice Rockinpoppin (Tyler Smith) quickly cleared to the lead. Wirelesscaller and Dragon Attack (Luke Hanners) battled for second, with the latter being parked the whole mile.

The opening quarter was in :27.1.

As the field went by the grandstand the first time, six horses were on the pylons and four parked on the outside.

Rockinpoppin held the lead past the half in :56.3 and three-quarters in 1:25.2.

Smith found enough room at the top of the lane and was able to steer Wirelesscaller past the tiring leader by a half-length in 1:53.3.

WIRELESS CALLER REPLAY

Handsome Sir (Chris Page) rallied for the show spot and Fast Dancin (Trevor Smith) completed the superfecta.

Antonia Storer trains the 4-year-old Bullville Powerful stallion for J M F Racing.

Wireless Caller was one of three winners on the night for Smith. Chris Page also had a driving triple.

In a $14,000 Conditioned Claiming Pace it was King Of Medal As (Chris Page) who grinded out a 2 ½ length score in 1:53.4.

Mctorious (Trevor Smith) grabbed the early lead from post #7. Chris Page pulled the eventual winner off the rail before the half mile station. The early move forced Badger (Jeremy Smith) out of the third spot and provided some cover for King Of Medal As.

The four-year-old Yankee Cruiser gelding found himself fourth at the top of the stretch, but used a :28.3 final quarter to secure the win.

A pocket sitting Westender (Tyler Smith) was second and Mctorious held on for third.

King Of Medal As is trained by Bob Stewart for Blue Dog Racing.

The stage is now set for two big nights of racing at Dayton Raceway.

Friday night will feature seven divisions of the $100,000 Ohio Sire Stakes Gray Championships.

Saturday’s card will have the $1 million (div.) Dayton Derbies and eight $300,000 Ohio Sire Stakes Scarlet Championships.

Post time for Friday and Saturday will be 6:30 PM.
