Woodside Gabe (Dover Dan) (Leon Bailey) captured the $8,500 featured Open harness racing Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (September 6).
Zapaca (Steeven Genois) led to the first quarter in :27.0.Ā Woodside Gabe ($8.00) made his move first-over as he traveled down the backstretch.Ā Zapaca held a short lead to the half in :55.4.Ā Woodside Gabe took the lead heading to the final turn and was first to three-quarters in 1:24.1. As they reached the stretch Woodside Gabe found another gear and won going away in a lifetime best of 1:53.4.Ā Zapaca held for second.Ā Deli Tessel (Frank Affrunti) came up late to finish third.

Woodside Gabe is a 4-year-old gelding by Dover Dan.Ā He is trained by Amanda Bailey for owners David Faile and Joe Facin Jr.Ā It was his fourth win this season and his 10thĀ career victories.
Chris Long and Jimmy Whittemore each drove three winners on the card. Robin Magiardi and Jody Weidman had training doubles.
