On Monday night (Dec. 26) at MGM Northfield Park, 14 races went to post, and it was 16 degrees, and the harness racing track was labeled fast.
Ronnie Wrenn Jr. had 5 wins on the card while Aaron Merriman and Chris Lems had doubles. On the training side Ron Burke had a triple.
Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and Ron Burke teamed up to take the Open Trot & Pace in Northfield Park’s race program.
Hellabalou (Sweet Lou) took the Open Pace in 1:52.1 as he took the front and never looked back. The 4-year-old stallion out of Magestic Blue Chip returned $2.40. He has now won 8 of 21 starts and has bankrolled over $100,000 this year, making his lifetime earnings $513,004.

Comb Hanover took the Open Trot in 1:56.1.
From post 7 he got away fifth. Magical Muscle Man took the front and was cutting the fractions with an opening quarter in 28.1. Wrenn then pulls Comb Hanover and starts moving up through the field the half going in 58.2. Following the live cover was the #5 (Setit And Forgetit).
Comb Hanover moves from fifth to second, hitting the three quarters in 1:27.0. Comb Hanover and Magical Muscle Man battle it out till the end of the race, and Comb Hanover got the victory by one and a quarter lengths.
The five-year-old gelding returned $4.20 to win.
