Wyoming Cowboy (Roll With Joe) and harness racing driver Leon Bailey won the $7,200 featured pace at Vernon Downs on Friday (September 30).
Samson J (Jeff Sorenson) went to the front and led to the first quarter in 27.1. He used a :30.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.2.Ā Ā Wyoming Cowboy ($8.80) made his move first-up going around the final turn.Ā Ā He was first to three-quarters in 1:26.1.
As they made the turn for home Night Explorer (John MacDonald) came charging after Wyoming Cowboy.Ā Ā The two battled all the way down the stretch.Ā Ā Wyoming Cowboy dug in and Night Explorer just kept coming.Ā Ā Wyoming Cowboy held on to win in 1:54.0.Ā Ā Night Explorer had to settle for second.Ā Ā Syracuse Express (Frank Affrunti) came on late to finish third.
Wyoming Cowboy is a 4-year-old gelding owned by Bruce Berg and trainer David Dewhurst.Ā Ā It was his fifth win this season and his eighth career victory.
