Harness racing driver Joe Bongiorno was able to light a fire under Peace Out Posse (Custard The Dragon) in scoring a romp Monday (Nov. 27) at Yonkers Raceway.
The 8th race $27,000 pace for non-winners $30,000 optional $75,000 claimers saw Family Recipe (Yannick Gingras) use the rail to secure the early lead with race favorite Louās Sweetrevenge (Jordan Stratton) getting the two-hole trip and Peace Out Posse on the outside.
By the opening quarter in :26.3, Peace Out Posse and Bongiorno cleared to the lead and then Louās Sweetrevenge came first-over as they raced to the half mile in :55.1.
Peace Out Posse held the field at bay down the backstretch as Louās Sweetrevenge was losing ground first-over. They went by the three-quarters in 1:23.2. Around the final turn Peace Out Posse started to pour it on, leading by four at the top of the stretch and winning by five and one-quarter lengths in 1:52.2. Family Recipe was second with Certifiable (Jason Bartlett) third.
