Yonkers Raceway featured the $40,000 Pop-Up Series final Tuesday, August 1 and after a three-way battle for control of the lead, Lous The Attitude (Sweet Lou), one of only two three-year-olds in the field, came away with the victory.
The 1st race on the card saw the final raced at an extra distance of one and one-quarter mile and the action was fast and furious from the start.
Three horses all vied for the early lead with Franco Nador N (Austin Siegelman) along the rail, Lous The Attitude (Jordan Stratton) first-over and then race favorite Hurrikane Jonnybox (Daniel Dube) three-wide and they all fought it out to the opening quarter mile in :28.2.
Hurrikane Jonnybox won the battle with Lous The Attitude getting the two-hole trip as they raced single file to the half mile in :56.3, then the three-quarters in 1:26.1 and the mile time was 1:54.1.
Enjoying the live cover, Stratton waited until the final turn to send Lous The Attitude after Hurrikane Jonnybox and after collaring him, pulled away to win by one and one-half lengths in 2:23.2. Counter Offer (Mike Whelan) closed well with a :55.4 last half mile to be second with Hurrikane Jonnybox third.
