HARRINGTON, Del. – Leonard Hubbard's Z's Dream ($2.80, Art Stafford Jr.) and Mst Racing Inc. and George Teague's Subban ($3.60, Montrell Teague) each won their respective $20,000 harness racing divisions in the second leg of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes action for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers Monday at Harrington Raceway.
The top eight point earners from all divisions will return to compete in the $100,000 final events on October 7.
Z's Dream led in wire-to-wire fashion from the rail for trainer Andrew Stafford as the Dream Away gelding completed a sweep of his eliminations. Squeak On By was second with Marvelous Winner third.
Subban ($2.80, Montrell Teague), a Clyde Francis-trainee and son of Southwind Lynx, sat in the pocket for red hot driver Teague behind pacesetter Syndergaard – who was bidding for an elimination sweep – throughout before surging by when given clearance in the stretch. Syndergaard held second with Can't Get Right, also trained by Francis, third. Teague had 5 wins on the card, 3 for Francis.
Teague, was back in the winner's circle in the next race with Legacy Racing and Reginald Hazzard II's Inforce ($5.20), who was a 1:53.3 winner in the overnight feature, a $14,000 claiming handicap for $25,000 to $30,000 claimers for trainer Wayne Givens.
Teague also owns Goldberg ($4.40), whom he piloted in the sub-featured $13,500 conditioned pace to a 1:53.1 win over Calvin K and Keep On Rocking A.
Stafford Jr. and Russell Foster had a driving double.
