American JJ too tough for Vernon foes

American JJ (Jailhouse Jesse) and harness racing driver Michael Miller won the featured $7,200 trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday (September 17).

American JJ ($9.00) forged right to the front and led to the first quarter in :28.4.  He slowed things way down using a second quarter in :31.1 to be first to the half in 1:00.0.  Bet Big On Blue (Leon Bailey) was first to make a move going first-up heading around the final turn.  American JJ led to three-quarters in 1:29.1.

As they reached the stretch American JJ was still in control.  Southwind Falcon (Ron Harp) popped out of the pocket and was gaining with every stride.  American JJ dug in and won in 1:58.0.  Southwind Falcon had to settle for second.  Bet Big On Blue finished third.

American JJ is a 9-year-old gelding owned by Lewis and Lisa Miller and trained by Hannah Miller.  It was his third win this season and his 31^st career victory.
