Adios champion wins Open Pace

WASHINGTON, PA, Dec. 16, 2022 — Returning to the scene of his 2021 Delvin Miller Adios Pace for the Orchids harness racing triumph, Hellabalou (Sweet Lou-Magestic Blue Chip) shot the Lightning Lane to capture Friday’s $19,300 Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Hellabalou stalked Wild Wild Western from the pocket, and when Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. pointed him inside, the 4-year-old gelding edged past Wild Wild Western to down him by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:51.4 over a “good” surface. The first-over Sandbetweenmytoes finished third.

Ron Burke trains Hellabalou, who soared over $500,000 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable, Eric Good, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Larry Karr.

Dave Palone collected five wins on the 13-race card while Wrenn and Burke each enjoyed a four-bagger.
