Ocean Downs Racing, the Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Association, the Maryland Standardbred Breeders and the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund all volunteered to host a double plus harness racing booth for the two day “Junior Achievement Inspire” event at the Salisbury, MD Civic Center, March 15 & 16.

The event drew thousands of 8th graders from 33 schools on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and nearby Virginia. The booths showcased careers from a NASA rocket to our harness racing booth and every business in between.

Wynnfield Savannah, owned by USTA ID tech Pam Polk, was the high light of the day for most students and adult volunteers along with our Virtual Reality racing head set that was used while they sat on a real race bike. The headset was manned by Kyle and Cody from the Ocean Downs marketing team. The display also consisted of Savannah’s racing pictures on her stall and a table with many different handouts provided by Jessica from the USTA.

The students did many interviews with the booth volunteers Peter Szymanski, Director of Racing at Ocean Downs, Pam Polk, Savannah’s owner, Gina Maybee representing the Maryland Horseman and Cheri Stambaugh, Administrator of the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund.

Needless to say, we have been asked to return.
