Northfield, OH — A solid contender in the 2022 Blue Chip Matchmaker Series, Blue Ivy (Captaintreacherous) continued to dominate Open harness racing company on Saturday (April 1) at MGM Northfield, scoring her 50th career win in the $19,000 Filly and Mare Open.
Blue Ivy (Aaron Merriman) was hustled off the wings, clearing the lead into the backstretch, but she had to brace for immediate pressure Kat (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) as the talented field headed to the quarter. Getting to the quarter in :27, Kat was able to clear Blue Ivy into the far turn for the first time.
Blue Ivy wasn’t content to sit in the pocket, so Merriman sent her to the outside and cleared past the half in :56.1. Moving into the backstretch, Blue Ivy kicked clear by three-quarters, with no challengers at three-quarters in 1:24.
Smothastenesewisky (Jason Thompson) moved around Kat heading into the final turn but had nothing left as Blue Ivy won under wraps by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:52.3.
BLUE IVY REPLAY
The victory pushed Blue Ivy to $750,610 for owner/trainer Renee Bercury.
