The Future Stars Series for two-year-old harness racing pacing colts and fillies continues Sunday (Aug. 13) at the Hippodrome 3R in Quebec with the second round of the series.

The colts do battle in the 2nd race for a purse of $10,000 and featured is the undefeated Ambitious Mind (Big Jim), who was the fastest winner in the opening round of the series.

Ambitious Mind starts from post five for driver Francis Picard, who also bred the gelding. Trained by brother Dominique Picard, Ambitious Mind is co-owned by Severine Picard, Martin Bilodeau and Claude Thibault.

In his last start, Picard gave Ambitious Mind a perfect two-hole trip in the series and the youngster responded in the stretch, coming on right at the finish to win by a head in 1:59. It was his second straight pari-mutuel victory.

Starting alongside Ambitious Mind in post six is Olaf Du Lac (Sportswriter), who happened to be the horse that cut the mile and was second in that race. The rivalry continues with Pierre-Luc Roy driving Olaf Du Lac.

Also in the race is Boomboom Tonight (Sportswriter) from post two for driver Marc Belanger. In his last start he was able to wire the field at H3R in 2:00.3.

The fillies compete in two $7,500 divisions with the first being the 4th race which is headlined by Ronda Du Lac (Shadow Play), who was a 2:00 winner in the opening round of the series for driver Pierre-Luc Roy. Bred by his brother, Louis-Philippe Roy, Ronda Du Lac is trained by David Pilon for co-owners LPR, Maude Larouche, Michel Letarte and Jean Allaire.

The second filly division is the 9th race features Rideau Carleton invader, D Gs Lorijeanne from post three for driver Jonathan Lachance. Two starts back in a qualifying race, D Gs Lorijeanne was able to wire the field in 2:00.1.

Her main rival will be Breedingbankrupsy (Sportswriter) from the rail for driver Pascal Berube. She was a game second in her last start, timed in 2:00.4.

Post time on Sunday is 12:00 noon for the 11-race card. For a free race program, visit here.
