After a one-week break, live harness racing returns on Fridays at the Hippodrome 3R in Quebec with a ten-race twilight program September 1 starting at 4:00 pm.
There are co-feature events for both the trotters and pacers on Friday.
The 5th race trot features Kenogami Courage (Lookslikeachpndale) starting from the rail for driver Stephane Brosseau. The three-year-old filly is getting in a final prep before she competes in her $65,000 Breeders Trophy Series Final on Sunday, September 10
Trained, co-bred and co-owned by Jean-Francois Reid with his wife Marie Claude Reid, Stephane Brosseau and Maurice Houle, Kenogami Courage has two wins this season, a record of 2:00.4 and a 2:01.2 triumph in the series.
She will take on return winner Lorenzo (post 3) for driver Mario Lachance. Last week Lorenzo scored a lifetime mark of 2:01 and has won two of his last three starts.
From the outside is Timonier (post 8) for driver Pascal Berube. This three-year-old colt is also prepping for the Super Sunday Finals at H3R next week and while winless in nine starts this year, has been a game second in the series in his last start, timed in 2:00.
The race favorite is Goaltender (post 9 second tier) for driver Marie-Claude Auger. The six-year-old gelding has two wins this season, the fastest in 1:59.3.
The 4th race pacing feature spots three return winners in the field but the race favorite is not one of them. That honor belongs to Windsun Cheyenne (Cams Card Shark, post 1) with driver Pascal Berube. Two starts back he was able to wire the field at H3R in 1:57.2.
The three return winners in the field are CL Big Beach (post 3) in 2:02.4 at the Quebec Regional Fairs; Twomacsonemach (post 6), a 1:59 winner at H3R and Flash Tothe Finish (post 8), who also won at the Quebec Fair.
