Meadows Open Pace captured by millionaire

WASHINGTON, PA, Oct. 20, 2023 — Hammered down to 3-5, Workin Ona Mystery (Captaintreacherous-Dragon’s Tale) looked every bit the dominant harness racing force, throwing down a :50.4 back half while first over — on a “good” surface — to capture Friday’s $19,200 Open Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Once Dave Palone sent the millionaire after the leader, Wild Wild Western, the race for win was over. Workin Ona Mystery scored in 1:50.4, 2 lengths better than Patrikthepiranha A in the Lightning Lane, with Elliot Moose third.

WORKIN ONA MYSTERY REPLAY

Ron Burke trains the winner, who boosted his gaudy bankroll to $1,193,822, for Burke Racing Stable, Milton Leemen, Alan Keith and Wingfield Brothers LLC.

Mike Wilder piloted six winners and Palone five while Burke enjoyed a four-bagger on the 13-race card. With Palone’s Thursday haul, he’s now collected 10 wins over the past two days.
