SD Watch Me Now (Wind Me Up) and driver Lee Morris charged late to capture the $7,000 featured harness racing pace at Vernon Downs on Friday (October 13).
Dowahs Boy (John MacDonald) led to the first quarter in :27.2.Ā Ā He used a :28.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.0.Ā Ā He continued to control things leading to three-quarters in 1:24.3. Meanwhile, SD Watch Me Now was sent three-wide on the final turn and cleared to the lead by the top of the stretch.
As they made the turn for home Lyons Night Hawk (Jimmy Whittemore) popped the pocket and challenged for the lead.Ā Ā SD Watch Me Now ($5.20) came flying down the lane and blew right on by to win easily by three and one-quarter lengths in 1:53.0.Ā Ā Road Ready Wes (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) came up to finish second.Ā Ā Dowahs Boy had to settle for third.
SD Watch Me Now is a 5-year-old gelding owned by Forward Step LLC. and trained by Morris.Ā Ā It was his fifth win this season.Ā Ā He now owns 13 career victories.
