It’s only late October and with two months left in the harness racing season, Aussie import Idealsomemagic A (American Ideal) is still adding to his win total, notching victory #15 Monday (Oct. 30) at Yonkers Raceway.
A nine-year-old gelding, Idealsomemagic A has raced the entire season against the best older pacers in North America and wasted little time showing his heels to the field in the 6th race $32,000 Open Handicap Pace.
Leaving from post five for driver Jordan Stratton, the race favorite Idealsomemagic A shot to the lead from post five and held the field at bay through fractions of :27.2, :56 and 1:24 with no able to challenge on the outside.
Coming down the stretch, Idealsomemagic A was in command and won by one and one-quarter lengths in 1:52 over the pocket-sitting American Mercury (Joe Bongiorno) with Backstreet Shadow (Matt Kakaley) third.
IDEALSOMEMAGIC A REPLAY
Trained by Cory Stratton for the VIP Internet Stable and Stratton Stable, Idealsomemagic A went off a mild 2-1 race favorite, paying $6.50 to win. With his 15 wins this year, he has earned $388,385 in purses.
