It may have taken five tries, but the top harness racing trotting mare, No Mas Drama (Muscles Yankee), returned to her winning ways Thursday (March 7), capturing the $35,000 Fillies & Mares Invitational Trot at Yonkers Raceway.
Leaving from post four in the 3rd race, driver Yannick Gingras sent race favorite No Mas Drama right to the front with No Turning Back (George Brennan) grabbing the two-hole trip as they went past the opening quarter mile in :28.4.
No Mas Drama continued to lead the way past the half mile in :58.1 and then the seven-year-old mare took off in the backstretch for Gingras, leading by seven lengths over No Turning back at the three-quarters in 1:26.
If that was not enough, No Mas Drama increased her lead to ten lengths by the top of the stretch and then breezed home to win in a romp by eight and three-quarter lengths in 1:55.1. Helpoftheseason (Jason Bartlett) was second with Queen Of All (Austin Siegelman) third.
NO MASS DRAMA REPLAY
It was the first win of the season for No Mas Drama. She is trained by Nicole Dicostanzo and paid $3.20 to win.
