Vernon Downs feature easy score for Le Massif

Le Massif (Shanghai Phil) and harness racing driver Steeve Genois dominated the $7,500 featured pace on Saturday (May 4) at Vernon Downs.

To The Hunt (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) went to the front and led to the quarter in :27.1.  Gunpowder N (John MacDonald) came first-up from third and led to the half in :57.2.  As they headed to the final turn Le Massif ($18.20) came first-over and flew right on by and led to three-quarters in 1:25.4.

Le Massif exploded out of the turn and won easily by three and one-half lengths in a seasonal best of 1:53.3.  To The Hunt was second.  Old Pal (Truman Gale) finished third.

Le Massif is a 5-year-old horse owned by Laurent Pednault and trainer Melanie Boulianne.  It was his third win this season.  He now has 11 career wins. He paid $18.20 to win.
