Columbus, MN – Charmingsix (Check Six) will try for his eighth consecutive harness racing win at Running Aces in race one on Sunday (June 23).
The 4-year-old pacer has been charming his way into the hearts of racing fans since he broke his maiden here on August 29 of last year.
That was the first time that driver Dean Magee sat behind Charmingsix and it has proven to be a great matchup as the duo have not lost a race since that date.
‘Charlie’ as he is affectionately called by the Feilbach family who are his owners, (though they consider him more like a family member), is currently undefeated in four starts in 2024, including a successful sweep of the Burning Blaze pacing series.
He took a new career mark of 1:54.3 in the first leg of series action back on May 30 and he now shows nine wins from fourteen career outings.
He has been listed as the second favorite at 9-5 on the morning line for Sunday’s event, a $9,000 conditioned pace. Dean Magee will be back in the bike behind Charmingsix for owner/trainer Larry Feilbach and additional owners Brent Feilbach and Claire Vanden Berg, all of Wisconsin.
You can learn more about Charmingsix and his connections in the upcoming July issue of Midwest Harness Report Magazine.
The Sunday twelve-race card, which gets underway at 6 p.m. (CDT) offers a carryover of $2,064.66 for the 20-cent Jackpot Pick-5 wager and will also feature the elimination races for the 2024 Ron Banks Memorial FFA Mares Pace.
This year’s Banks event drew 19 nominees and saw 15 entries into the box for the elimination round. The elimination heats go for $17,500 each and feature very competitive fields.
The top four finishers, as well as the fastest fifth place finisher will advance to the $35,000 final which will be featured next Sunday (June 30).
