Six 2YO races belong to driver Andy McCarthy

Chesterfield, NJ — Harness racing driver Andy McCarthy sat behind six winners Wednesday (June 26) as Magical Acres held 14 qualifiers for 2-year-old pacers and trotters.

McCarthy’s victories included the day’s fastest mile, a 1:56.3 score with Linda Toscano-trained female pacer Allegra Hanover (Papi Rob Hanover-Arodasi). It was the filly’s second winning qualifier this month, following a 1:58.1 triumph on June 18 at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Allegra Hanover was purchased for $90,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale and is owned by Jablonsky Held Stable, South Mountain Stables, JAF Racing, and Camelot Stable. She was bred by Hanover Shoe Farms.

McCarthy had two wins for both Tom Cancelliere and Noel Daley, plus one victory for Chuck Sylvester. Cancelliere, Daley, Sylvester, Nik Drennan, and Chris Ryder all finished the day with two wins.

Cancelliere’s filly pacer Sheila Sazs (Papi Rob Hanover) won in 1:57 after finishing third, timed in 1:58.3, on June 12 at Magical Acres. The first foal out of If Ur Richimsingle, the filly is owned by breeder John Cancelliere. Her third dam is Hall of Fame broodmare Stienam’s Place, the dam of Dan Patch Award-winner Put On A Show and grandam of millionaire It’s My Show.

McCarthy’s other win for Cancelliere came with male pacer Pack A Punch (Tall Dark Stranger-Power Pack Hanover ), who captured his qualifying debut in 2:00. The colt also is owned by breeder John Cancelliere.

Daley won with male pacer Its Gonna Feelgood (Always B Miki-Passing Fancy) and female trotter Cloudy Bay Hanover (Bar Hopping-Chezatter), both in their debuts.

Its Gonna Feelgood, purchased for $85,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale, won in 2:00.3 for owners Patricia Stable, L.A. Express Stable, Michael Dolan, and Sjoblom Racing. He was bred by Roll The Dice Stable.

Cloudy Bay Hanover, purchased for $25,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale, won in 2:02 for owners Allister Stables, Joe Sbrocco & JAF Racing, Country Club Acres, and Don Latore. She was bred by Hanover Shoe Farms.

Completing McCarthy’s list of winners was Sylvester’s male trotter Lefties Righties (Greenshoe-Swizzle Sticks), who won in 2:02.4 in his debut. Purchased for $60,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, he is owned by Sylvester, Charles Stansley, Lenavitt Investments, and John Licausi. He was bred by Steve Jones and his family includes 2022 Trotter of the Year Bella Bellini.

Sylvester also won with debuting male trotter PA Missle (Father Patrick-Global Inspiration) in 2:01.1. The colt was purchased for $25,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale. He is owned by Sylvester, Stansley, Lenavitt Investments, and David Reid. He was bred by Mahantongo Farms.

Drennan’s winners were female pacers Youllfindout (Always B Miki-Montenegro) in 1:57.3 and Lovely Alexa (Sweet Lou-Alexa’s Sweetheart) in 1:58.3. Youllfindout is a full sister to Dan Patch Award-winner Monte Miki. Bred by Velocity Standardbreds, she was purchased for $25,000 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale and is owned by Joseph Davino, Brad Shackman, Daniel Schrock, and Drennan Stable. Lovely Alexa, bred and owned by Jeff Snyder, is from the family of Hall of Fame broodmare Michelle’s Jackpot, the dam of millionaires Michael’s Power and Michelle’s Power.

Ryder won with male pacer Twisted Destiny (Bettor’s Wish-Tug River Princess) in 1:57.4 and female pacer Miki And Minnie (Always B Miki-That’s The Ticket) in 2:00.2. Twisted Destiny is a homebred owned by Let It Ride Stables and Odds On Racing. Miki And Minnie is owned by breeders Craig Henderson, Robert Mondillo, and Lawrence Minowitz.

Rounding out the 2-year-old winners Wednesday were male trotter Yannick G Kemp (Walner-Southwind Adele) in 2:00.3 for Nifty Norman, male pacer Squeaky Blue (Heston Blue Chip-Squeaky) in 1:59 for Per Engblom, and female trotter Imagining (Tactical Landing-Dreamsteeler) in 2:03 for Pat Lachance.
