Bangor, Maine … Horse racing along Maine’s northern circuit returns to the Bangor State Fair this week as the 175-year-old agricultural exhibition will host its first harness racing session in over 30 years. The rejuvenated fair meet will conduct its sole program on Thursday, July 25 with post time slated for 5:00 p.m. (EDT) and will be available for watching and wagering along Bangor Raceway’s regular international simulcast network.
“We’re thrilled to be able to feature live harness racing at the historic Bangor State Fair once again,” Hollywood Casino General Manager Austin Muchemore said. “The Bangor State Fair is celebrating 175 years of history, and harness racing is part of that history. Both the fair and harness racing not only add to the fabric of Bangor’s rich history, but they are part of what makes living in this city unique.”
Maine Sire Stakes action will be featured at the Bangor State Fair on Thursday as the three-year-old, state-bred, colt pacers take center stage in twin splits carded as races one and eight on the nine-race card, for purses of $16,191 and $16,416 respectively.
Following the Bangor State Fair meet, Maine’s fairground circuit will swing into action at the Topsham Fair with five sessions of racing spread out over the week beginning on August 4.
