Takter trainee takes $108,200 NYSS dash

Pink Chou Chou (Chapter Seven-Secret Magic) and driver Todd McCarthy captured the $108,200 leg of the New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old harness racing trotting fillies on Friday (July 26) at Vernon Downs.

Pink Chou Chou ($3.90) went to the lead and was first to the quarter in :29.0.  As they reached the backstretch Royal Mission (Scott Zeron) took over the lead and led to the half in :58.3.  She continued to control things and was first to three-quarters in 1:27.2.

As they reached the stretch Pink Chou Chou popped out of the two-hole and challenged for the lead.  Pink Chou Chou wore down the second-place finisher Royal Mission to get her first career victory in 1:56.0.  My Debt Collector (Mark MacDonald) finished third.

Pink Chou Chou is a filly owned by Crawford Farms and trained by Nancy Takter.  It was her first career win.

John MacDonald drove five winners on the card.  He was first with Don’t Trip, Snap Call, Crazy Crown, The Hunt Is On, and Pompano Beach.
