Pink Chou Chou (Chapter Seven-Secret Magic) and driver Todd McCarthy captured the $108,200 leg of the New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old harness racing trotting fillies on Friday (July 26) at Vernon Downs.
Pink Chou Chou ($3.90) went to the lead and was first to the quarter in :29.0.Ā As they reached the backstretch Royal Mission (Scott Zeron) took over the lead and led to the half in :58.3.Ā She continued to control things and was first to three-quarters in 1:27.2.
As they reached the stretch Pink Chou Chou popped out of the two-hole and challenged for the lead.Ā Pink Chou Chou wore down the second-place finisher Royal Mission to get her first career victory in 1:56.0.Ā My Debt Collector (Mark MacDonald) finished third.
Pink Chou Chou is a filly owned by Crawford Farms and trained by Nancy Takter.Ā It was her first career win.
