Its A Love Thing (Bettor’s Delight), who is #5 in the Hambletonian/Breeders Crown Top Ten Poll, continued her winning ways scoring her fourth straight harness racing victory Tuesday (Aug. 6) with a triumph in the $80,000 opening round of the Kentucky Championship Series for three-year-old pacing fillies.
The 6th race feature got underway with Direction (Todd McCarthy) going out to the early lead. Bath Bomb (Yannick Gingras) settled in the two-hole as they passed the opening quarter mile in :28.
Then the race favorite, Its A Love Thing, and driver James MacDonald moved first-over from third place and brushed right to the lead, cutting the mile to the half in :55.3.
On to the three quarters in 1:23, Its A Love Thing had only Direction following in the two-hole to worry about as they started down the stretch.
McCarthy came after the race leader with Direction, but could not catch Its A Love Thing, who won by three-quarters of a length in 1:49.4. Bath Bomb was third.
ITS A LOVE THING REPLAY
It was the fifth win in seven starts this season for Its A Love Thing, who is trained by Dave Menary for owners Eric Good, Thomas Biederman, Josh Green and Rick Lombardo Racing. She paid $2.24 to win.
